New Bentley Continental GT V8 Unveiled Ahead of 2012 Detroit Auto Show

Bentley has revealed pictures and details of the new Bentley Continental GT V8 Coupe and Bentley Continental GTC V8 Convertible which will be officially revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on 9th January 2012.
The two models will be built with the new twin turbocharged 4.0-litre 500bhp V8 engine which Bentley says will produce a 40 per cent improvement in fuel economy. The new engine has a sophisticated management system that allows a flawless transition from V8 to V4 mode under light throttle weight, shutting down four of the eight cylinders at cruising speeds. Both models are said to be capable of travelling over 500 miles (800km) on a single tank of fuel with outstanding fuel efficiency of about 25mpg and CO2 emission of about 265g/km.
Both models will include a state-of-the-art all-wheel drive system which will use an advanced Torsen differential and a 40:60 rear biased power split, this will guarantee a safer and active handling of the car in all road conditions. Other features of the new Bentley Continental GT V8 include distinctive exhaust tailpipes, shaped in a figure of eight, and a black gloss matrix grille, with a chrome frame and centre bar. Both the coupe and the convertible have been fitted with 20-inch alloy wheels with the option of switching to 21-inch wheels. The interiors have been designed with optional two-tone leather, dark eucalyptus wood veneers, new cloth headlining, customers interested in the coupe will have options of four different interior colours and three different hood shades.
Both the new Bentley Continental GT V8 Coupe and Bentley Continental GTC V8 Convertible will be available from January 2012 with prices starting from around £120,000.
