Volvo reveals details of 2013 Volvo V60 Diesel Plug-in Hybrid

After keeping us in so much suspense, Volvo has finally officially released details of the 2013 Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid. It is the world’s first ever diesel electric plug-in hybrid. The new Volvo diesel electric plug-in hybrid is built with a 2.4-liter five-cylinder turbo diesel engine rated at 215 horsepower and 324 pound-feet of torque sending drive to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine will work with a 70 horsepower electric motor powered by an 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery and driving the rear wheels.
The car will be able to operate in three driving modes (Pure, Hybrid and Power) available via three buttons. In the Pure mode the car is powered by the electric motor, in the Hybrid mode the car is powered by both the diesel engine and the electric motor providing a pleasurable and eco-friendly driving experience (CO2 emission is 49g/km, corresponding to diesel consumption of 1.9l/100km) and finally in the power mode the car will be operating using maximum power possible from both the diesel engine and the electric motor. The Interior has been designed with black leather upholstery, blue-gray wood inlays, a leather steering wheel, custom designed mats and a gear lever knob with integrated indicator.
According to says Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation "Volvo’s plug-in hybrid has received considerable attention since it was unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Now we're taking the next step by presenting the production model, which is graced with a distinctive profile featuring a spectacular silver colour, exclusive interior and generous standard equipment," says Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.
The 2013 Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid will be available only in electric silver at its lunch and it will go on sale at the start of 2012.
